As meeting stones will all become usable for all characters above level 14 in patch 3.3, some group travel issues (and interesting ways to move around the game) are fixed. This follows the world's slowest zeppelin being introduced in the last patch.
The question becomes, what do you think Blizzard could now implement to speed up or straighten out your travel in-game without taking away from the fun or sense of awe at the landscapes?

Honestly, I think their next step should be to finally implement engineering's group transporters, you know, the ones they've been promising in EVERY lead up to an expansion (not Cataclysm though yet...)
The change to summoning stones does open up a lot of possibilities though, and I'm looking forward to seeing some of the odd tales that will spring out of their misuse.

Atleast getting to Scarlet Monastary for Alliance won't be such an annoyance next year during hallows eve event. I do like the idea that I can use the stones at 80 to help summon low levels to the instance i am about to run them through, rather than just sit like a bum waiting for them to run since they dont have the flight path yet.

The next step in increasing travel speed around the world should be making taxi mounts more direct. They could show off the scenery the first time one travels to let’s say the argent tournament by going around the whole place, but after that first time traveling there it should be more direct and not force you to view every tent in the area. Just by making more direct flight paths especially in old world they could cut down on travel time significantly.

I think making the meeting stones more accessible is going to make a huge difference. While I completely agree with the notion of restricting travel at first so that players can fully take in their surroundings, I've spent months taking it all in. Anything Blizz can do to kill travel time is great. I really loved having the recruit-a-friend summon ability. It would be nice to have a summoning stone that you can link with a friend. Then if you like you could break that link and link it with another friend.

I something that's been a long time coming is the straightening of flight paths. I mean, sure - the first time you ever take a taxi-bird, it's really cool to see a looping view of all the fantastic scenery, and I realize they did it in Azeroth because not everything was meant to be seen from every angle, but there's no need to for flagrant time wastage in Outland and Northrend. Once Cataclysm hits, every flight should be a straight line, but I seriously doubt they will. *shrug*

I think travel has become quite bearable now. They’ve lowered the mount lvl req and the mounting speed. The only thing left is the mount speed. I’d love to see a 25% bump across the board.
The only travel grip I have is end game raid summoning, but the rumored guild talent points/ raid summoning for the next expansion should solve that. Considering everyone just wants to get there as fast as possible, I’d wish they’d update the loading screen to include an artistic montage of the zone you’re traveling to with some images of the local inhabitants. For instance, if you were being summoned to Tanaris, the loading screen would reflect some aerial shots Gadgetzan and some of the dessert landscapes along with some images of pirates and some of trolls. Ideally Blizz could add some fun lore tips of the zone you’re entering, similar how they do it when you log in. |

Maybe and in-flight movie and some cheap peanuts.
But seriously, I would like more use out of the hearth stone. Maybe ad the ability of the stone to send you back to were you were when you first used it, like a two way portal or something.

I think a simple "summoning stone" in your inventory that you could use to summon another player/party member to you. Give it a one time use, 5 minute cooldown to allow warlocks to still feel special (they need something, after all). This would help with the "hey buddy, can you help me kill this elite?" type situations without 15 minutes of travel or blowing your hearthstone.

More direct flights rather than connecting.
Once, I was at the Argent tourney wanting to go to Ulduar. I had the FP for Ulduar, but instead of a 1 min flight straight east, it was gonna take me on a 4-5 min flight back to Dalaran then back up to Ulduar. It wasn't until I was manuallly flying over to Ulduar that I discovered the small town with the FP you need to shoot straight across instead having to go back to Dalaran. And what the dude said up there about engineers. It would be cool if Engineers could make a transporter, sorta like mage portal, but instead of going to Major Cities, the transporter could take you to small towns somethin like that. They made the drill for Brewfest, they could make somethin like this for engineers.
